#486: This week on the Anxiety Slayer podcast we’re talking about getting through the things we face in life that can feel so overwhelming
When the little things feel big and too much to cope with, it’s a nudge that we need to slow down and take better care of ourselves. Overwhelm can be a response to anxiety, change, trauma, exhaustion or depression. And, while we often feel like we should push through, it’s seldom helpful.

#485 This week we’re sharing a conversation that Shann had recently with Dr. John Demartini.
Dr. Demartini is a human behavior specialist, International best-selling author, educator, founder of the Demartini Institute and the author of 40 books that have been translated into 36 languages. He has featured in films including The Secret, appearing on Larry King Live, and regularly contributes to Oprah Magazine.
In today’s fast-paced, hyper-connected society there’s an undeniable increase in people experiencing varying degrees of anxiety. We get loads of emails from our listeners about how they are suffering from all sorts of anxiety. At the top of the list is health anxiety followed by fear of having an anxiety attack. Dr. Demartini and Shann dive into the conversation discussing the relationship between fear and anxiety.
Points covered in the episode John shares his view about anxiety being a form of fear.
“Fear is the assumption that you’re about to experience in the near or far future through your senses or imagination, more pain than pleasure, more negative than positive, more disadvantage than an advantage, or more challenge than support from someone, some event, or something.”
We discuss the triggers of anxiety, understanding the benefits of anxiety and the value of understanding what is at the core of suffering.
We discuss how you can dig deeper and learn to dissolve their anxiety.
“We don’t have to be victims of our history we can be masters of our destiny by taking command of our perceptions. We can make a mountain out of a molehill or a molehill out of a mountain. We can transform our once assumed hell into an opportunity if we take the time to find out what’s behind it and how it serves us.”

#484: This week we’re talking about words to ban from your self-talk to remain free from anxiety.
The words you speak become the house you live in. — Hafiz
Language is the painter of our psychological experiences. If we think and talk hope, we will feel hope. But if our thoughts and dialogue are rooted in anxiety and fear, that is how we feel. We will feel anxious, we will behave anxiously and we will further grow anxiety because we are feeding it at the root.
